TRP: The University Press of SHSU publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and scholarly works. We are currently open for new book project proposals, and submission of literary manuscripts. Please see below for guidelines.  We are interested in literary and scholarly work in both full-length and shorter forms (chapbooks, chapbook-length essays), as well as hybrid works.

Scholarly Works Proposals

Scholarly Works Proposals should include a title, cover letter, abstract, 2 sample chapters, an estimated word count, and a short author biography. We are not interested in unrevised dissertations; dissertations should be revised for a general audience and formatted in Chicago Style. If interested, the editors will request the entire manuscript.

Manuscript Submissions

Literary Manuscripts should include a title, cover letter, the full manuscript, and a short author biography.

  • Huntsville History - General interest series on the history, people, and places around the Huntsville, TX area, including Walker County and the Piney Woods/East Texas areas.
  • Gulf Coast Folklore - General interest series on folklore in any of the five Gulf Coast states.
  • Scholarly or general interest works in the following areas: Environmental Studies, Southern/Gulf Coast Studies, Texana.

Submitted work must be original and previously unpublished in any form. AI-generated manuscripts are not eligible.
